This business was born from a deeply personal experience. Years ago, I discovered that the candles I was purchasing from large retailers were causing my daughter to experience frequent headaches. At the time, I didn’t realize how harmful many mass-produced candles could be—filled with toxins and synthetic fragrances that aren’t safe for our homes, especially around children and pets.
That realization led me on a journey of research and testing, ultimately guiding me to create my own clean-burning candles made with natural, non-toxic ingredients. My goal is simple: to offer a handcrafted candle collection that provides high-quality, beautiful candles, bringing warmth and peace to your home—without compromising your health.
But Lit Candles is about more than wax and wicks. If you know me, you know my heart is in serving others. Each candle is a way for me to give back—to love on people, to uplift our community, and to share something meaningful and intentional.
As a mother of twins currently in college, this business is also a way for me to support their education and build a legacy that can be passed down through generations. I want to create generational wealth not just for my children, but as a testament to the resilience of my ancestors—native Black parents who were stripped of their land, wealth, and the ability to pass anything down. Through Lit Candles, I honor them.
In the future, I plan to offer free candle-making classes for youth and adults who are unhoused or have experienced homelessness—providing a creative outlet, skill, and spark of hope that can lead to healing and opportunity.
Every candle is crafted with care, intention, and love—because this is more than a product. It’s my purpose.
